FOOD: SEEKING GOD EARLY

Text: Proverbs 8:17 “I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.”
Our love for God is a response to His love for us. He first loved us and we must love Him back.
1 John 4:19 “We love him, because he first loved us.”
As a Christian, the strength of your walk with God is tied to the depth of your seeking. You cannot give what you have not received, and you cannot experience God’s presence if you have not met Him first.
God is not just telling you to seek Him. He is telling those who love Him to seek Him early.
God is personal in His dealings. He says, “I love those who love me.” The opposite is also true. Love demands a response.
The reverse is confirmed in Exodus 20:5-6: God visits the iniquity of those who hate Him, but shows mercy to thousands of those who love Him and keep His commandments.
Seeking God early is the evidence of love. It means you put Him first—before your convenience, your sleep, your business, and your plans.
“Those who seek me early shall find me” means those who delay, who only seek Him when it suits them, often miss Him. God is not an option for spare time. He honours those who honour Him first.
- Seeking God early in one part means going to the presence of God.
Going to the presence of God is building a stronger altar. It is where battles are won before they start, where direction is received before decisions are made.
Punctuality in service is also a matter of honour. The time agreed for the commencement of service is not just a man-made schedule. It is an invitation recorded in heaven.
God has noted the time. He has honoured the invitation to meet with His people. When two or three are gathered in His name, He said, “There am I in the midst of them” Matthew 18:20.
Special Notice: He is already in their midst. He is not waiting for latecomers. He meets with those who come early and ready.
When you go late to church service, you miss the moment God chose to move. Think of it like this: if the President of your country approved you to attend a meeting with him, would you arrive early or come late after he has started? Your answer judges it all.
- Seeking God early in another part means accepting Christ’s salvation before it is too late in your life.
Ecclesiastes 12:1 – “Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not.”
Don’t plan to live wayward, explore the world messily, and return to God “later” in life. It may be too costly. Don’t pretend salvation by merely attending church or mouthing “Christian.” Be intentional. Be a genuine Christian early in life.
Psalm 63:1 – “O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee.”
Many miss divine direction, peace, impartation, and breakthrough because they arrived after God had moved.
Eat the Scroll this weekend and determine to seek God early by:
- Accepting genuine salvation and surrendering fully to Christ
- Building a stronger altar by going to God’s presence daily
- Putting God first in all your doings and decisions
- Always seeking Him early in prayer, worship, devotion, and punctuality to church service
Finally, God is not looking for busy people; He is looking for seeking people. He loves those who love Him, and He reveals Himself to those who seek Him early.
From this week, resolve that:
- You will build a stronger altar in His presence early each day.
- You will be in church early and on time.
- You will put God first in your plans and decisions.
- You will not keep God waiting, and not miss what he has prepared for you.
“Those that seek me early shall find me.” Let that be your testimony this week and beyond.
Prayer:
- Lord, help me to love you, in the name of Jesus.
- Lord, help me to seek you early and put you first always in the name of Jesus. Amen.
