FOOD: THE REWARD OF SEEKING GOD EARLY

By: Pastor Toye Ebijomore

Text: Jeremiah 29:13 – “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”

In two weekends ago, we ate that “those that seek me early shall find me” Proverbs 8:17.

Last weekend, we saw that when disobedience silences heaven, “they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me” Proverbs 1:28.

This weekend we come to the good side: The Reward of Seeking God Early.

When you seek God early, with a clean heart and obedience, you don’t waste your search. You always find Him. And what you find in Him changes everything about your life.

  1. You Find God Himself
The greatest reward is not blessing, but the Blesser. Psalm 27:8 – “When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek.”
Early seekers don’t just get things from God. They get God. And when you have God, you have all things Romans 8:32.

  2. You Find Direction for Your Life
Proverbs 3:6 – “In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
Those who run to God first in the morning don’t walk in confusion all day. Early seekers receive divine direction before the world starts dictating their steps. Daniel sought God early and got interpretation that kings could not get Daniel 2:17-19.

  3. You Find Power for Daily Living
Mark 1:35 – “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.”
Even Jesus sought the Father early before facing crowds, accusations, and battles. If the Son of God needed early seeking for power, how much more you and I? Early prayer loads you with grace for the day.

  4. You Find Hidden Secrets and Mysteries
Psalm 25:14 – “The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.”
God opens deep things to early seekers. What others struggle to understand for years, God reveals to you in the place of early seeking. Early seekers are not ordinary—they are carriers of divine secrets.

  5. You Find Favour and Honour
Proverbs 8:17 – “I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.”
When you love God enough to seek Him first, He loves you back and shows you favour before men and God. Joseph sought God in prison, and God promoted him to palace Genesis 41:38-41. Early seeking moves you from obscurity to honour.

Examples of Early Seekers in Scripture:

  1. David – Psalm 63:1 “O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee.” He ruled and never lacked direction.
  2. Jesus – He rose early to pray and finished His assignment strong Luke 22:44.
  3. The women at the tomb – Mark 16:2 “And very early in the morning… they came unto the sepulchre.” They were first to receive resurrection news.

God does not delay those who don’t delay Him. When you put Him first, He puts you first. When you seek Him early, you find Him early, and you escape many battles others will face later.

Eat the scroll this weekend and position yourself for reward by:

  1. Setting your alarm for God before the world wakes you for trouble
  2. Coming to His presence with a sincere and obedient heart
  3. Asking Him, “Lord, what will You have me do today?” Acts 9:6
  4. Refusing to let business, phone, or sleep rob you of your daily encounter

Delay makes you miss God. Early seeking makes you find God. Let this be your lifestyle.

PRAYER

  1. Lord, let me find You and Your will for my life as I seek You early, in Jesus’ name.
  2. Father, open Your secrets to me and show me direction for my life, in Jesus’ name.
  3. Lord, baptize me afresh with power for daily living as I seek You early, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
